A warm welcome to the website of Handsworth Roadhogs Running Club! The Roadhogs were formed during 1985 and achieved affiliation to the Amateur Athletics Association (AAA) early the following year. The Club has continued to affiliate to England Athletics, the successor to AAA. The Roadhogs is a local community based Club catering for all abilities, including beginners, and uses the Handsworth Grange Sports Centre on Beaver Hill Road in Handsworth as the base for training runs. Dates and times of training runs can be found elsewhere on the website. Anyone who is interested in running is welcome to come to our training runs before deciding whether to become a Member. We have a small number of members who are accredited coaches through the Leadership in Running Fitness initiative. The Club has a very active annual programme and Members participate in many road races from 5k parkruns to full marathons. The Roadhogs have a yearly grand prix competition taking in many local races. The Club has many fell and off road runners and for them there is a ‘wildhogs’ annual competition which mirrors the format of the road based grand prix. The Club is active in staging annually the Handsworth Hobble and Waverley Dash trail races and helps marshal at other local races, including the Sheffield half marathon and the Sheffield 10k. During January, February and March each year, when there are fewer races being staged, the Roadhogs, along with four other local clubs, hold an inter club cross country competition. The Club also organises occasional social events. The Club has an active Committee which is appointed by the Membership and generally meets every other month. We hope you find the information on this website helpful.
