The Wildhogs Grand Prix events for 2024 have now been
announced. Please see the below table showing the races.
This is a fell
running series with a choice of 26 races (long and short distances). So if you
feel like giving your fell shoes a proper workout come along and let the battle
begin.
To
take part in the Championship you will need to compete in a minimum of 4 of the
races listed below however, one of your events must be long i.e. 9 or more
miles (or 14.5 + Km)- (this rule doesnt
apply to lady runners-i.e. ladies dont need to do any
long events to qualify)- with a maximum of 8 races counting towards your final
Championship score. Any Handsworth member, (first or second claim) can take
part.
Club colours preferred but not compulsory, please let the series
organizer or a committee member aware at beginning or end of race to ensure you
get counted.
Scoring
The first Handsworth runner in each race will score 40
points, the second 39 and so on. The allocation of basic points will not be age
or sex related, the points will be allocated purely on your finishing position,
however, bonus points are available

Bonus Points
Participation
in The Inter-club cross country races will
play a part, scoring 3 bonus points for one race, 7 for two races and 11 for
three races.
Bonus points
are also available for veterans (Age Category
Bonus) 1 point for V40, 2 points for V50, 3 points for V60 and 4 points for V70
for each race, no more than 40 points can be scored per race..
Ties
In the event of any runners scoring the same number of
points, the runner who has scored better head to head with his or her rival
will be the winner. If this fails to separate the runners then the runner who
has a beard will be the winner. If neither or both runners have a beard it will
be called a draw.
Prizes
Your age group will be determined by your age on the
10/03/2024.
We no longer have separate vet prizes it is now
simplified to male and female 1-2-3.

of the Wildhogs races require a pre-entry so ensure
you enter in plenty of time to avoid disappointment. Please also be mindful of
safety requirements for fell racing as fell races take place in remote
